Privacy policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
In short
- We collect what you need to run your business in the app: your business details, your customers, invoices, debts and payments.
- We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
- Partner offers are off unless you turn them on. You can turn them off anytime.
- You can export your records or delete your account whenever you want.
Who we are
Money Tracker is run by Money Tracker Nigeria, based in Lagos, Nigeria. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Money Tracker Nigeria, and "you" means the person who signs up and uses Money Tracker for their business.
We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the rules and guidance issued by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). For your own account details, we are the data controller.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Sign-in details: your email address and password, or your name and email from Google if you sign in with Google. Your password is stored scrambled (hashed), so nobody at Money Tracker can read it.
- Business details: business name, phone numbers, address, email, logo, the type of business you run, and the bank account details you choose to show on invoices.
- Records you create: customers, invoices, money owed, payments and notes.
- Your choices: for example, whether you agreed to tips and partner offers.
- Messages to us: what you send when you email our support team.
Information collected automatically
- Usage information: which features you use, when, and errors you run into, such as a PDF that failed to generate.
- Device information: device type, browser, operating system and IP address.
We don't collect your bank login, card numbers, BVN or NIN. Money Tracker does not take or hold payments.
Your customers' details
When you add a customer, you decide what to record about them, such as their name, phone number, address and what they owe. For that information, you are the data controller and we process it on your behalf, only to provide Money Tracker to you.
Please only add information you have a fair reason to keep, like a sale or service you provided, and only contact customers about money they owe you. We never contact your customers, never use their details for our own marketing, and never share them with partners.
How we use your information
We use your information only for these purposes, and only on these legal grounds:
- To run the service (to perform our agreement with you): sign you in, save your records, calculate balances, make invoices and PDFs, and prepare WhatsApp messages for you to send.
- To support you (to perform our agreement): answer your emails and fix problems.
- To keep Money Tracker safe and working (our legitimate interests): prevent fraud and misuse, find and fix errors, and understand which features are used so we can improve them. We use summaries wherever we can, not your individual records.
- To send tips and partner offers (only with your consent): see below.
- To meet the law (legal obligation): for example, responding to valid requests from authorities.
Tips and partner offers
If you turn this on, we may send you tips for your type of business and tell you about services from partners we trust, such as business bank accounts or loans. We only share your details with a partner if you ask us to, for example by tapping to apply for an offer, and we tell you what will be shared before you do. You can turn this off anytime in your business profile or by replying to any of these emails.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who help us run Money Tracker, such as hosting, database, email delivery and error tracking. They may only use your information to provide their service to us, under written agreements that require them to protect it. They are Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), Cloudflare (website hosting), Google (only if you choose to sign in with Google) and Resend (sign-in and password emails).
- Partners, only when you ask, as described above.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or us.
- A new owner, if Money Tracker is sold or merged. They would have to keep to this policy, and we would tell you first.
We may share summaries that can't identify you or your customers, such as "businesses on Money Tracker recorded ₦X in payments this month", with sponsors or the public.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it to show you ads.
When you share an invoice or reminder on WhatsApp, the message goes through WhatsApp, which has its own privacy policy. We only open WhatsApp with the message ready; you choose whether to send it.
Where your information is stored
Your records are stored in a database run by Supabase in Paris, France (European Union). The website itself is hosted by Cloudflare, which serves it from data centres around the world. When information is transferred outside Nigeria, we do so in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, using appropriate safeguards such as contractual protections.
How long we keep it
- We keep your account and records while your account is open.
- If you delete your account, we delete your business details and records within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something longer.
- Backups are overwritten within 90 days.
- Support emails are kept for up to 2 years so we can follow up on issues.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you have the right to:
- know what information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- have your information deleted;
- take your information with you, in a common format (you can export your records in the app at any time);
- object to or limit how we use your information in some cases;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example to partner offers, without affecting anything we did before;
- complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you think we have mishandled your information.
Most of this you can do yourself in your business profile. For anything else, email privacy@moneytracker.com.ng. We'll reply within 30 days. If one of your customers asks us about their information, we'll pass the request to you, since you control their details.
Keeping it safe
We protect your information with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls so only authorised staff can reach it, and regular reviews. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach puts your information at risk, we'll tell you and the NDPC as the law requires.
Cookies
We use only the cookies and similar storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your settings.
Children
Money Tracker is for people aged 18 and over who run a business. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
